1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

I'll be mainly gaming, recording gameplay, editing video with sony vegas and working with Photoshop

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

Around $3000, tax and shipping not included

3) Where do you live?

The Netherlands

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.

  • Complete computer
  • CPU - something like i7? (look at mobo)
  • RAM - pref. 4/6/12gb DDR3 1600MHz
  • mobo - that supports the ddr3 1600 ram & PCI-E2.0 for at LEAST 2 videocards, crossfire?
  • Case - Something simple that can hold the above motherboard
  • Cooling - Good cooling, I want to be able to overclock! (noise isn't really an issue, I can always buy one of those reduction kits)
  • Power - Enough! 1000W or something?
  • Videocards - ATI HD-something (at least 1gb each, 2 cards) Crossfire
  • Onboard network & sound card are good enough for now
  • ??
  • And anything else I missed..

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.

Keyboard, mouse, monitor.. just the peripherals, cuz i'm selling my current computer.

6) Will you be overclocking?

Yes :D

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?

I have one already, 24" (Acer H243H) So I don't need a new one.

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?

In 2 months or so

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.

Crossfire, and the things I described above

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?

Windows 7 x64

----

Basically: A High-End gaming PC with a little xtra graphical power for video editing.

----

Edit: I know it's probably going to be hard to build a computer for that money with my wishes, but please don't hesitate to reply with something that costs a bit more. I've been saving money for 5 months now. xD

Will I be shot down for suggesting that with those requirements, that budget and that time frame you should be looking to get the new Intel 980X? That's what I'd do.

The rest of it is pretty similar to many other people, just more of certain things :D
Decent (but not silly expensive) X58 mobo, 12GB mem, two 5870s, Corsair 850W, 160 Intel G2 SSD and 2TB HDD, that kinda thing. Take a look at other people's build threads.

3 grand?

get 3x 24" monitors and a 5970 for eyefinity.

also go for an SSD 100 GB or so for the OS and 1TB+ drive for storage or better

12 gb of ram is totaly useless your running autocad or something. video editing is kind of a wash. I would save money on this and get more SSD storeage. hell if you can find a solid deal get 2 100gb SSd and raid them. it will be epic.

and obviously a core i7 920. :)

He said he will be doing video and photo editing, so I think 12GB wouldn't be such a bad idea. It's not like it breaks the budget :p
