I have been wanting to build a second ESXi host so I can play around with all the different features and really make use of vCenter. I got in on the $35 Antec NEO 520W shell shocker and this open box X8SIL-F for $114. I am also going to use this as a NAS/storage learning box for ZFS and all that cool stuff that is why i got the Core i3-540 for now to keep i cheap. I will get another Xeon 3440 to match my current ESXi host so i can do vMotion, FT and all that good stuff when i get more money.

I got the Antec 300 because it is cheap and also my current ESXi host is in an Antec 300 so I figured it would be good to have them side by side and put my cisco lab on top of them.

Now hopefully this open-box X8SIL-F works ok.

You can do FT, vMotion, and all the good stuff with the i3. Just make sure you use the right EVC level.

I bought the same board and processor, but it is for my NAS. :) Let us know how it does.
