New EK CPU Block

We are just getting a new waterblock left and right these days. This time it is EK showing off a new design. It was actually announced a little while ago, but the first pictures of the internals have arrived, as well as some tentative test results. It looks like it will definitely compete with the best blocks out there, if not beat them all. It is however highly restrictive. According to EK they should be available soon (Nov16th).

The preliminary testing shows the EK beating the Fuzion by 4 degrees however I suspect somewhat of a bias. We'll see when we get some independent testing whether these results pan out. Also the tester was using an Iwaki RD-20, so it will be interesting how it performs on more normal pumps since it is so restrictive.
 
I think Aqua Computer recently used a similar testing scheme and it was quickly derided as meaningless. So why the acceptance of their testing methodology of CPU temp to water temp now? :rolleyes:

Please stop trolling any non-AC thread, I was anything but accepting the testing, more skeptical than anything else. I still want to see independent and more thorough testing (as I said in the original post). This is not a thread about AquaComputer, no reason to try to bring it up.
 
This is what I mean. This is innovation. The base is only a few thenths of a mm thick? That's incredible. I was able to lap off about 2mm of copper from my TDX before it performed on-par with my Fuzion (dual core only, lol).

Still, it looks really restrictive... Even if he triples the amount of "jet" lines, or whatever.

I don't accept it. I'm sure many don't accept it. But everyone on that thread is a friend of Eddy, they're probably thinking it, just not sayin it.

My first thought is the mounting plate is plain ugly and will take getting used too. Yeah, I think the design is interesting but VERY restictive. I am not only interested in the performance with a normal pump but want to see what happens when you introduce a GPU block and NB block.

No I got his point, but EK still lacks the "DD TDX OWNS" bullshit factor to show it's utter crap on every level and only a blowhard would buy it.

Some level of respect off that.

I simply brought up that an exact same testing methodology that was decried as terrible because it was an AC advertised test (actually it was a review site that posted it) that is suddenly okay except that "there might be some bias in it."

It appears to me that wiser heads are moving away from this C/W testing as they think it has problems. In fact if you go to bit-tech they talk about this on page 6. It discusses that real world testing is what it is all about.

This is definitely innovation and EK needs to be applauded for thinking out of the box. I'm not so sure how restrictive this design is or not. It depends on the total surface area of the slots. I suspect this design may work better at lower flows than a RD-20.

Ahh, back to real world testing which some of us aren't interested in believing, but I believe is the best way.

Appears to be the same testing methodology as used on the AC Cuplex XT DI review done in Germany. It tests the difference between the water temp and the CPU temp. Seems like you want in both ways.
 
The figure measured != testing methodology. It wasn't what was being measured that was being questioned in the AquaComputer DI review. Instead it was the results that were completely counter of months / years of testing. The AquaComputer review showed a DD TDX beating EVERYTHING but the DI. Every single other test that has compared a TDX against many of the blocks on that AC test showed the TDX performing worse. When their test has such obvious flaws it brings into question their methodology and their controls.

Methodology is the way you go about conducting the test, it isn't what you are measuring.

This preliminary review is pretty much in line with what the expected results would be on all the other blocks tested. It shows the EK block much better than anything else. At least the rest of the test is what one would expect however, unlike the AC test.


So please, if you are going to troll, troll with correct information and stop making stuff up.
