New computer won't start up correctly, please help!!!

Hey guys I am building new computers for my brothers for christmas. I just built my brother's this morning and it isn't working correctly. When I turn it on, all the fans start up and everything, and the hard drive is working, but it isn't sending out any video and also the mouse and keyboard don't work. I have tried everything I can think of, I have switched video cards and that wasn't the problem, I have checked all of my connections a million times and they are all correct. I really don't know what it could be, please help. Thanks

Did you try reseating the RAM? Are you getting any beep codes?
 
Nope no beep codes, and yes I tried resetting the ram, i even tried putting it in different sockets and it didn't work.
 
Trying running it outside of the case. I always test my motherboard with CPU, RAM, and video in place while sitting on the motherboard box next to my case, to make sure everything works before I put it in and have to take it all back out again.

In a case like yours all you can do is start unplugging things one at a time and swapping parts out from one PC to the next until you pinpoint the problem.

Could be an incorrectly mounted HSF. I once left the orange tape on an HSF and tried to boot a PC a few times because I was in a hurry. :eek: Damn lucky I didn't blow the thing up.

Try resetting the BIOS via the jumper as well.
 
Well I took out the sound card, cd drive, and floppy drive and none of that helped. I only have the required stuff in right now and it's not working. I also have tried resetting the CMOS and that did nothing. Tomorrow I will try taking the motherboard out and putting it back in I guess, I don't know what else to do.

The fact that there is no beep code tells me it is most likely incorrectly installed CPU/HSF. If the motherboard was incorrectly mounted you wouldn't be getting as far as you are (fans, power to drives), and if the CPU was working correctly then you would get a beep code of some sort if there was another problem.
 
Ok wtf this is really weird the other computer that I built yesterday has the exact same problem. BOTH computers turn on, the fans move, the hdd works, but there is no video and the mouse and keyboard don't turn on. I took out the motherboard and reconnected everything, making sure it wasn't touching the case (at least I couldn't see anywhere that it was) and tried to start again, and the same thing happened. wtf could be the problem?
