i built a new computer

3700 939 sd cpu
550w antec true power ii psu
2x 512mb corsair value ram
a8n-e asus mobo
60gb seagate sata hdd
nec dvd burner

when i turn it on all fans turn on but i get no video, and i get 1 beep every 10 seconds from the mobo, i think i might need a bios update to support the san diego processor, or could it be something else?

Didya do first boot outside the case on a nonconductive surface (cardboard) like you're supposed to? That gets a lot of people.

would that not make it boot if it didnt? and is it going to break anything if i didnt? the asus manual didnt say anything about booting it out side the case first

A case short will cause EXACTLY the problem you've got. Then again so will other things...which is why first boot is supposed to be outside the case, with one stick of memory & minimal hardware attached. Eliminates possible factors that can be wrong until you at least know the rig will turn on.

well woot, i get to take it all apart, i will do that and let you know how it goes

Other likely cause is you don't have all the extra power wires plugged in (at least 2 to the motherboard, as many as 4, and probably one to the video card).

i took one stick of ram out, i guess it didnt like it haveing both sticks in, i tried both sticks and they both work
