New computer I'm thinking about..

You have too much money, give me some. Well that computer should fly, I wouldn't get a cheaper motherboard, maybe a cheaper processor.
 
Case: Good
DVD Burner: Get a NEC 2510, then upgrade to a 16x DL when they come out
Hard Drives: Excellent
Memory: Good
MB: Don't know a lot about AMD64 boards
PSU: 550 watts is overkill, I'd get a PC Power and Cooling 425 Deluxe
CPU: I'd get a 3400+ b/c it's 90% as fast and 50% as expensive
Soundcard: Good
Video Card: If you wait a few weeks, prices will drop. Retail on that card is only $400

I picked the plextor becuase its got 12x and I doubt I'll really be upgrading to 16x very soon since I'm not really going to burn too many dvds.

Even if you don't plan on upgrading, I'd still get the NEC. It's about half the price of the Plextor and since you won't be burning a lot of discs, the few minutes difference between 8x and 12x is negligible.

Gripes and criticisms:

Case: I have the same one, I love it

DVD Writer: I agree with EnderW, get an NEC ND2510 - it's an 8x dual layer DVD burner for $80; it's a revision of the ND2500 which I have and love

Hard drives: I really like WD, and if you like it, good enough, though, I've been digging Seagate drives lately because they're quieter and only a tad slower

Memory: just fine

Motherboard: no clue since I haven't been keeping up much with Ath64 stuff

PSU: good choice, but 550 is kind of overkill, a 430 or 480 TruePower are still good choices, or a PC Power and Cooling if you're really serious

CPU: in my opinion, incredibly frivolous purchase because of its cost. I'd recommend a regular Athlon 64, they offer slightly less performance but aren't quite as costly

Audio Card: I love the Audigy 2, but you need a nice sound system to really take advantage of it. But it is the retail version, so you get the game bundle.

Video card: I'd suggest waiting for Nvidia 6800GT or if you're already thinking of spending $460 for one, get a retail X800XT Platinum when they finally hit retail and prices come down.
