new card...

It's about 15-30% faster than a 9800XT if that helps.

If you already have a 9800PRO, I wouldn't say its worth upgrading due to the money you'd lose. A 6800GT would be a more noticable upgrade for a 9800PRO owner.

On the other hand, if you are wondering about whether its worth spending an extra $100 over the 9800PRO for if you don't have either yet, its definitely worth the extra cash for the 6800. i.e. if building a new PC the 6800 is definitely a better bet than the 9800pro.

is this new card better than the ati 9800pro?

After cruising some different reviews my answer is barely. If your question was more along the lines of, "Would this be a good upgrade from what I already have?" The answer would be a definite no.

Barely? The 6800NU is a lot faster! I think he should get a GT, but the 6800NU is noticeably faster than a 9800 Pro.

It's noticeably better, but not $300 better. Though perhaps it's $150 better if you get a decent price for the 9800pro... Still, I'd hold out for a 6800GT.
