I decided to upgrade from a GTX 670 to an AMD 7970 this weekend, as well as moving everything into a HAF XB. I've been folding since last night and woke up this morning to both the gpu and cpu having failed 2/2 WU's. I closed out F@H wiped work units, updated all drivers and started it back up. The cpu seems to be fixed now as it has successfully completed a WU. However the GPU seems to have not completed a WU yet and is showing an abysmal 2k PPD estimate.

Is there a possibility that there is something jacked due to switching from the 670 to the 7970 and not clearing a cache or something I dont know about? I completed deleted the "work" folder this morning which didnt help the GPU problem what so ever. Ive received no errors in the F@H v7 error log.

Below is my pastebin log of the GPU thus far..Only flags Im running is "client-type beta" and "next-unit-percentage 100"

Thanks.

proper drivers cleaning using driver sweeper as well as proper F@H client for the 7970? I know myself even going driver to driver I use the driver to uninstall itself, then driver sweeper, finally Ccleaner to clear registry and such keeps things spiffy clean, fast, and working that way they should be(minus whatever bug are in the program)

I could be wrong but hasn't Nvidia been far better for F@H and overall Radeon for sha type work such as bitcoin due to their design i.e mass crunching power vs a stream of small crunching?

edit-I see you said you did all drivers but did you do a thorough cleaning?

Sc0tty8 broke my computer anyways...Had to reimage.:D

Well, I'm wrong as often as I'm right, but I'm not seeing 0x17 core in that log?

The 7970 needs the 0x17 core AFAIK with 7.3.6?

I know that I don't frequent the DC thread as much as I used to, but are the AMD cards folding better than they used to? Based on what I'm reading here, I guess that the clients have finally been tweaked so AMD is finally worth folding on...?

Just curious.

With the 0x17 core, the 7970 rips. Perhaps the fastest card at stock clock.

amd are much better with the beta flag, make sure to use the 13.2 drivers, 13.3 made cards use cpu, reverting to 13.2 took the cpu cycles back down

m33p is MIA now, not sure what he is up to...

Most people I know are seeing much better performance with 13.3 (and no change in cpu usage), so I'd be hesitant to take this advice.

I have a feeling m33pm33p is doing it right, there might just be too few WUs. I haven't had much luck getting them recently so I shutdown my AMD cards. And 2k-4k is about right for a 7970 on new drivers for Core 16 (they run horrifically slow with the new drivers).

That low?

Code:
exodus Slot 00	GPU	00:04:03	6524.4 (3.556 WUs)	4/14/2013 11:23 AM	OPENMM_OPENCL	16	P11293 (R30, C49, G42)

Wait, so m33p should be at 2k ppd on this wu and that is ok...

BTW, I have the same card as he does...You see I am hitting 6500ppd...

i will add the caveat that i have 6850's, 7xxx series may be different ;)
