New build or SSD

Long-time lurker here with a few questions.

Current system is FX-60, 4GB RAM, 4870 1GB, 24" 1920 x 1080, Vista x64, and I think a Antec 650w power supply. Things are starting to get a little bogged down. I do a little bit of everything on this system: gaming, movies, music, photo, office work, CD/DVD/Blu-Ray ripping/conversion.

I plan on keeping my case and video card for now. I plan on keeping the system for at least 2-3 years. So I'm wondering what the biggest bang-for-the-buck upgrade would be going towards a W7 install:

1) Replace system drive with Intel 80GB G2 -$250

2) Go the budget i7 920 route, with a slight overclock (I do have a microcenter nearby) - $545 for CPU, mobo, 6GB RAM

3) Core i5 750 - $475 for CPU, mobo, 4GB RAM

4) AMD route (955 BE) - $450 for CPU, mobo, 4GB RAM

Budget really isn't too much of an issue, but I would like to keep it under $600. Plus I'm thinking of putting the old parts on ebay to get back some money.

Any thoughts/ideas/recommendations?

New build. Since it seems as though you don't upgrade often, I would go the 920 route.

I have practically the same system, albeit I have a 280gtx instead of the 4870, I also have fx60 with 4 gig but I use win 7 64, I also have bluray burner, bringing ssd's to my rig gave me a major boost in speed and tbh I really dont see a need to upgrade for anything other than arma 2, I can play arma 2 single player perfectly but when it comes to huge multiplayer maps with lots of scripting my processor starts to show its age, but then again arma 2 puts a hurting on everyones pc.

I would say that a ssd would be a good addition to your pc, maybe with the addition of win 7 64 as it is faster than vista in alot of respects.

So in conclusion, unless you want to shell out for a complete new pc, as thats what you will have to do if you want a new cpu as nothing you have except your vid card and burner are compatible, then a ssd will give your pc a fresh lease of life for another 6 or more months til you have more money for a complete new system, I'd say its worthwhile unless you specifically want a new pc right now, I personally couldnt believe how fast my pc became when I added 2 ssd's, even with one its still smoking fast for everyday things, 15 second boot time and programs open instantly and the thing was bought in 2005 albeit it has had some upgrades to it since then.

But, a new build is always needed, even if you did build a new pc 2 weeks ago another one doesnt go a miss :)
