new blackout issue

i just built this system a week ago, ( in sig ) and every now and then the screen blacks out for just a single second and then comes back, the monitor does not shut off, and whatever program is running is still there and running just fine. i have had it happen while online, and while playing games and with just the desktop up. i have checked the temps and voltages of everything and all is good. anybody else run into this or have a clue? i am running the latest drivers and was wondering if that may be it??
 
How is your monitor connected (dvi, displayport/vga etc..) have you tried reseating your card in the pcie slot
 
could be just me.. but it sounds like "display driver has stopped working and has recovered" issue....
 
^ That's what I'm thinking OP is referring to too.

And, in which case, the same thing is happening to me, with the card also failing folding work units every now and then. Though, I've recently bought another card for SLI, so I'm going to see if it really is the card, or just the drivers.
 
Have you tried re-install the drivers?

Secondly, is their anything being reported to Event Viewer?
 
for some reason it stopped for now, but i was getting alot of AOD driver errors in the event viewer.......i have a Nvidia card, i thought a AOD error was a AMD thing??
i am reinstalling the drivers now, with a clean install.

i reseated the card, and it is connected to the dvi with a hdmi adapter. the hdmi connector is going to the T.V.
 
update-
this is dumb, but every time somebody turns on or off the TV in the next room my monitor goes dark for a second. dont know why, but the power light stays on and it dosent affect the programs running. guess i will have to run it from a different circuit.

Wow that is strange. Better tell them to quit turning off the TV. Maybe they have a super remote? :D
My brother had an issue once where his monitor kept blacking out. He blamed every part in his computer for it, turned out to be an issue with the monitor
 
just a closer to this thred, the blackouts only happen when the hdmi cable is hooked up to the TV, when unplugged it is fine.
 
That "blackout" is totally normal... More even if your TV have different resolution than your monitor... Why? Cuz your videocard is splitting your desktop (or expanding if selected to be this way).. Same happens if your unplug the tv while using your system.. The system will blackout for a sec and readjust the resolution to fit your monitor only...
