New AeroCool Dominator CPU Cooler

The reason why it performs well is because it is so large, not because it is a good design. A large fan like that should definitely have some bearing noise.

Isn't the large fan part of it's design? I don't care what the thing is as long as it's cool and quiet. It can have pig's feet dangling off of it and if it cools well whilst not soundling like a drill I'm all for it. lol

Well. the very last sentence in the review says ' And to top off these two great points, the Dominator is super quiet. ' I wonder how true that satement really is

The only reason to have such a large fan is to reduce noise, and get the same airflow as a smaller louder fan. Noise comparisons will have to be drawn in order to get the full picture for this HSF.

And lol at the pig's feet comment. lol alot. :D

Jesus WEPT, that thing is huge. Will be interesting to see what happens with it.

EDIT: I really like the idea of transferring all the heat away and not having heatsinks right at the base. I hope that it catches on, it would make installing heatsinks a lot easier and eliminate a lot of problems. If you made it so it was easy to remove the top part or something like that, you could even eliminate transportation problems.

The more I think about it, the more I think the idea has potential. Here's to Aerocool for trying something different!

looks like it will be a decent hsf... i wonder about the noise of the fan myself.... also is it me or are all hsf starting to look the same?

You ain't kiddin'. The heatpipe syncs are starting to look pretty similar except a few. That may be the nature of the heatpipe design beast, however. I like the fact that this new cooler is "super light weight" but I can't find any weight measurements. It IS made out of aluminum so it can't be too heavy. I bets they make a copper version if this version sells well.

Was there measurement specs? All I saw was the nickel to hsf comparison.

Edit: Nvm, the picture I wanted is there. That is nice now that it is quite a bit taller then the zalman, it looks like you could actually take out ram w/o removing the hsf.

i love 14cm fans, the one in my PSU isnt audible over the hdd's....seems like this should be a nice cooler to have but HOLY CRAP, i cant imagine having that big of a fan on the CPU

crazy aerocool guys, CRAZY

Larger fans often have issues with bearing noise because the motors are so big. Larger is not always better, folks.

Case in point: My 25cm fan on the side of my AeroCool case. It's got a low hum to it because of the sheer size. My front 14cm doesn't have that same noise so I'm hoping this cooler has the same fan.

I have this cooler on my Conroe E6600 it is in an Antec P180B case with the door closes.
Summer is bloody hot right now so ambient temps are way up, cpu idles at 49/50 and is 65/66 under load.

If I take the side panel away it drops to 40 idle, 50 under load.

Oh and I run the fan at 5v so it is totally silent.

Keep the side panel off then until you can address your lack of adequate case cooling

I don't think it necessary, everything works just fine, and I have no heat problems.
The CPU can probably stand up to 85 before it starts to get upset so I see no need for concern.

My computer is in the living room and has to have the Wife Acceptance Factor, so side panel should stay on.

Different? The design is pretty much like the Big Typhoon and some others...most all "tower" coolers these days are designed to bring the heat away from the base with heatpipes. The only thing really different about the Aerocool is the oversized fan.
