NEW A64 3500+ Benchmark... Decent?

damn john, nice OC. I have the same processor. what RAM do you have? I'd like to think that i might get anything close to that but i have a gig of Corsair ValueSelect PC3200. i'm thinking it's not the greatest overclocker.

Did it pass like a 32M SuperPI or prime and mem test for a bit, any 3dmark01 loops?

That vcore being 1.4v and @ 2.7ghz hmmm that would be a really rare chip, a screenshot overclock is worthless if it isnt stable...

take a screenie of a 32M test on SuperPI

Damn d00d...if these Winchesters are even remotely close to that then I need to get better RAM. I'm in the same boat as Goat with crappy RAM.

I am trying to get 260FSB 1:1 2-2-2-5-1T stable :(

I have some OCZ PC3200VX ram, but I had RMA them back. They were not even stable at 240FSB 1:1 with 3.4v.... So hopefully it was just a bad matched set.

I'm rootin' for ya here....always nice to see people giving A64's a shot....with some decent results.

I hope to be joining you fairly soon....not gonna be doing much in terms of video cards right off the bat, but I wanna see what I can do with a DFI Ultra-D, 3200+, and the 2x256MB of GSkill LA it looks like I'm snatchin' up pretty soon.....should be fun. :)

I will try it later, As I am not sure if I really like the A64 right now.. Yes it shows impressive numbers in gaming.. But shit this processor suck ass when it comes to multitasking with a high disk activity.. Which is making it worthless for what I need it for.

My P4C performs 100% better when it comes to multitasking... With the A64, when I alt-tab outside of a game (with about 80++ % utilitzed cpu) most other applications would be slow as crap or appear as not responding. This is not a overclock issue as it does it at stock :D

But on a P4C I can do that with ease.. I even had 3 games opened at once and just ALT-TAB to which game I wanted to play at that time.

But having 3 games open is not what I need it for, but it shows that the Intel does destroy the A64 in multitasking..

NOW

Maybe when the XP 64-bit OS will be a final product, that multitasking issue might have gone away. But I am not a casual PC user, and I would never run a BETA OS as my primary setup.

I doubt it. Multitasking has to do with workload balance and the Pentium 4 does it alot better because of HyperThreading and being able to divide the workload more efficiently making the performance seem more smooth.

The Athlon 64 is faster for the majority of games but it will get bottlenecked if you try to start doing something else while gaming.

Quoted for truth, but I know that there are still going to be AMD zealots jumping down my throat for saying that. ;) :p
