We have a Netgear FR114P router/print server and its 4 ports. We use them all now, and we just secretly bought my dad a decent gaming rig. (P4 2.4ghz, 800mhzfsb, 512 hyperx ddr400, 9600xt) I dont want to spend another $80 to get a router because of one extra port, is there anyway I can work this out with what I have?

Go buy a $10 4port switch at frys or comp usa and hook it up to the router.

What he said. A hub or switch can be added to your existing network. Many of the newer switches/hubs can "autosense" how they're hooked up, so you just unplug one of the cables in the router now, run a cable from that port to the new switch/hub, and plug the new machine and the cable you unplugged before into it...the new switch/hub acts as an "extension", sorta kinda. If you get one that doesn't "autosense", then the cable between the router and the switch/hub has to be a "crossover" cable (it's a CAT 5 cable that's wired differently). Switches are better (faster, especially under traffic), hubs are cheaper. Hope this helped!
