I was thinking of adding an NAS device to my network to get a lot more storage without having to worry about setting up more server room. Anyone have any experience with this and/or recommendations on NAS enclosures or devices they would recommend?
there are a lot of options depending on what you're looking for and what you're willing to spend
If all you want is simple availability of files then you can get away with a lot more than someone that is looking to get multiple users streaming and writing files, someone that is looking for RAID, or FTP ability, ect.
I think you're in the same situation that I was in, I set up an Airport Extreme with a 750GB WD external attached to it. It's not the fastest thing (I think that there are benchmarks on smallnetbuilder.com) but for the price and the fact that i needed a wireless router, it worked for me. I can stream full quality DVD's but I've never really stressed it with multiple users, but I never though that I would be.
So what is it that you want to do (size, raid, speed, etc) or read up some on smallnetbuilder.com
