I've read five reveiws so far and haven't seen Nehalem going up against high clocked dual cores yet. Anyone seen one? I'd be interested to see how a 3.6-4ghz dual core fairs against a simliar clocked Nehalem.

They go from pretty even in some games to clear advantage for the i7 in more CPU bound games and with future GPU's the gap will widen in favour of the i7.

The consensus seems to be 10-20% clock for clock. More advantage if a game is a highly multi-threaded. So far no game seems to be able to take advantage of more than 3-4 threads though, not even SupCom.

but i have also heard that the nvidia 280gtx card is being held back by todays core 2 cpu's so a nehalem could fix that issue and double the framerate as someone said in here

LOL maybe at 800 resolution with shaders disabled...

Yeah seems closer to 20 than 10,

At any resolution you would want to play? impossible to tell any difference.
At retardedly low resolutions with no aa, af, low textures, etc..? thats where you would see 10-20% difference... so your 300fps might increase to 360! woot!

Exactly. I really didn't see a big advantage, at all, at 1920x1200 with goodies enabled.

IMO HardOCP failed to accurately review games with i7 because they didn't utilize an i7 multi-gpu setup and compare it to a C2Q multi-gpu setup. Many other reviews did this at 1920x1200 and saw massive gains when using i7 in multi-gpu vs. C2Q in multi-gpu.

I just want them to look at one of the few CPU limited games available, supcom (simspeed gets REAL slow in the end of big games, FPS stays fine).

sup com didn't show massive gains in any of the reviews I saw.

One of the biggest gainers IIRC from my reading yesterday was world in combat. But even then, at playable resolutions, it wasn't enough to get excited about.

and on the couple of pages before they showed the core two pretty well matching the I7 at higher resolutions. The only thing they didn't show is 4870X2 scaling which is more CPU dependent then the GTX280.

I think that overall there might be some more articles to shed more light onto this.
