I am buying a new 20-22" monitor. I think i have narrowed it down to either the dell 2007, or the LG L204WT. The only reason i want to get the dell over the LG is because of the way it looks, and its black.

Does the 2000:1 compared to the 800:1 contrast ratio make that big of a difference in gaming? I don't do any professional stuff with photoshop or anything.

Don't forget those two monitors use different panel technologies (S-IPS or S-PVA for the Dell and TN for the LG) but I hope this doesn't further cloud the issue for you...

I also was looking at the ViewSonic VX2025WM

S-IPS has the best viewing angles and color accuracy. However the 2007 only has banding fixed in desktop mode and seems it has entered panel lottery land lately.

Use the "Panel technology breakdown" sticky at the top of this forum and decide which is best for your needs. Even though S-IPS or AS-IPS is considered the all around king...current generation TN panels are generally fine for most users.
