This is for a home setup and I need some help on figuring out what hardware I need to accomplish my goals.

Recently, we had a device on our home network begin uploading gigabytes of data across our home cable modem. I had to use a process of elimination to find the infected pc because our router doesn't track usage at the device level.

Here's what I'm wanting to do:
- content filtering (porn, file sharing etc)
- track/monitor realtime bandwidth usage _by_ wireless/wired device

Is there one router that will provide this capability? I have a machine that can be used collect data from the router and store it if needed to do the reporting but I have to be able to capture it first.

What suggestions device/devices [and or custom firmwares] could I use to accomplish this? I was looking at the Draytek line but I think I need 3 devices for that setup (wireless AP, switch and pc for monitoring). I was hoping to find a router with that would capture & filter and setup a linux server to capture the information from the router.

pfsense with dansguardian, perhaps something like nortondns to help avoid known malware sites.

I've got an ASUS RT-N56U running custom firmware and using optware. However, I was looking for a good a commercial router with this capability that would be suitable for Home/Home Office (i.e. not thousands of dollars). I was hoping someone would have experience with a router like that.

You want a good commercial router for non-commercial use? In what way is your current solution limiting you?
