Ok I have this machine im working on here are the specs...

Intel P4 2.8c
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
OCZ PC3200 512mb RAM
Gainward GF3 Ti200
Sound Blaster Live Value
Antec TruePower 480w
Idle 26-30*C depending on room temp
Full 38-45*C again depending on room temp
Using stock HSF with some silver thermal paste

Now I keep getting these random reboots so far none of them have been during the system being under full load. This was also happening with this system on a Abit IC7 Max3.

Now im really damn confused with this problem, what could be causing it?

Could my cpu possibly be bad and work fine but give me reboots every now and then?
 
Depends on what you were doing when the CPU rebooted... I know you said random... but give examples.

Without knowing what you were doing... my best guess would be that it's your PSU.
 
Ok well so far its done it once or twice while its just idling, running pretty much nothing except asus probe, mIRC, Ventrilo and a program called "Steam" to play Counter-Strike. Nothing really taxing the system or doing much.

Other times I could be opening up a few programs like mIRC and ventrilo at the same times and it will just reboot itself out of nowhere.

Like I said I really am not sure about it being my PSU when im not doing much to put the computer under load and it still reboots itself.
 
this happened to me last yr
and it turned out i had skrewed up ram
