This january, I am going to south africa for a month to visit my girlfriend. I decided it would be wise to pick up a digital camera before I go. The only problem is I have NEVER owned a digital camera and know ZERO about them.

I was hoping I could get some general advice of what I should and should not get. Currently I would like to spend 100-200 dollars, and am hoping to find a good black friday deal this month. I heard that you can get a lot of sweet cameras under 200, and since I am not doing anything to serious, just taking pictures from a trip, I do not need a 500 dollar camera.

So any input anyone has would be great, thanks a lot.

oh yah simple is kind of better, i dont know anything about camera special features let alone how to use them, so just as long as I can take clear pics and easily put them on my comp I am happy :)

I just picked up the Canon Powershot A510 with a 256MB SD card and a case for $200. I am enjoying it.
