I recently bought a motherboard from msi and a new cpu. I did a fresh install of windows 7 (just finished) and it seem my xonar sound card is not working. No sound to be found. Ive updated the drivers, set it as default playback (do I need to reboot for it to play?) and I disabled the onboard audio in the mobos BIOS.

What to do? My soundcard was working fine before and now I cant get any sound. Is There a setting in windows Im missing or something im doing wrong. Or some drivers I need. Help me out.
 
Take it out and re seat it. If it is a dx1, make sure it has power.

Until windows recognizes that you physically have a sound card, no driver or software will help. You need to make sure it is in the right type of slot. If you have a different slot of the same type, try that one too.

Yeah, emphasis on the make sure it has power bit. I've got a PCIe Xonar DX (I think) and when I forgot to give it power after an upgrade it kinda didn't show up. Make sure the power connector is firmly seated, if it isn't things can sound odd.
