Ok the earbuds that come witht the iPod suck. plain and simple. They are always falling out, cutting out etc. I use my iPod everyday while walking to and from my car to class and when i have free time inbetween classes. So...what do you recommend as replacement ear buds? Thanks for the help.

For a good balance of value and quality sound, you can try the Sennheiser MX400/500's. I believe the mx400's can be bought from 10-20 dollars. A lot of people recommend these. They are traditional style ear buds.

For a little more money (25-40), you can look for Sony's MDREX51LP and MDREX71SL . Both have strong (but not great) bass and clear sound, but the main reason you would buy them would be that they are both in-ear design. Both feature silicon buds that you stick into your ear, into the canal. This creates some physical noise cancellation. You'll hear more music with lower volumes, and won't bother others. Besides the "muddy" bass that audiophiles mention on the forum, some other weakpoints are that they'll feel like earplugs and get dirty pretty easily (wax, dust, etc.) if you don't rinse the removable buds once in a while, and keep them in the included plastic case. BTW the MDREX71SL has an all-white version, which might remind you of your iPod ones. (white version: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...&CategoryName=acc_Headphones_Fontopia./Earbud)

I agree totally on the Sonys. I have the MDREX51LP myself and they are great if you don't need head splitting bass. I also agree I hate those damn white I-Pod headphones. It annoys me seeing 8 people with them on the bus on the way to class. Then again I dislike I-Pods in general so...

I was wondering what those were! My friend is a total MD Player fanatic and spends tons of time at this MD forum. He recently went to Japan and came back with these. At first glance, they look like Koss's The Plug with EX70/71 silicon buds and cord. I think I might have to buy these. Imported straight from Japan, woohoo. Thanks for the link xref.

I just started cruising Audiophile forums and already I've purchased 2 sets of earphones based on recommendations in the past week. This really is an expensive hobby =).

either md33 or shure e2c, latter is more likely to be better and also a lil bit more expensive

Anybody have any opinions on the Etymotic ER-6i's? I've heard a bit about these but don't know how it will compare to the others.
