Need new PSU quick...

After a power outage at the house.... looks like my PSU on my Windows Home Server crapped out. I was running a Corsair HX520. Unfortunately, that means I don't have time to wait for shipping from Newegg/Amazon/etc. and will have to pick one up at Fry's or BestBuy

Anyone got a good recommendation? My WHS box is currently running...

Case - Norco 4220
MB - ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU - Phenom 9750
RAM - 4 GB Corsair PC5300
Video - ATI x1300
HD - 2 x 500 GB (recording drives), 2 x 1.5TB Samsung F3 "green" drives, 2 x 2TB WD 20EADS, 2x250GB (MB RAID1)
Expansion cards - Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8, Nvidia DualTV tuner card

I'm thinking about moving up to a 650W or 750W PSU for future expansion (have 3 more 20EADS I'm thinking about adding). I don't think I need a 1000W+ PSU for this configuration.

I would prefer a module configuration and efficient since this system is on 24/7. It is connected to a APC-1500 UPS for protection, so I'm pretty sure it didn't get hit by a power spike or anything.... just died of old age.

I'm currently looking at the Corsair 750HX or the Antec TruePower TPQ-850 (both around $150). My maximum $$ would be in this range...

I'll probably have to head out to the stores first thing in the morning....

If all you are going to add is 3 more 2TB drives another 520w PSU will be more than enough for your needs. There's no reason to get a 650w or larger PSU for your WHS.

Since Fry's and BB seem to be your only places to buy a PSU. Then you might take a look at the Antec Earthwatts EA 430D PSU. You're not really powering or going to power that much load.

If you want to go modular then you'll pay a good bit more. I didn't see anything decent and of reasonable price/wattage at Fry's or BB websites.

Edit: Just realized you're going to need lots of SATA power connectors. You'll probably have to go with a higher wattage PSU for that.

My main concern is the way the case is configured. 4 drives per backplane means 4 drives per power connector spinning up at once when the system is turned on. I think I remember hearing that single-rail PSUs are recommended for the Norco rack-mount cases, but I'm not positive.

I realize I wasn't very clear in my first post about expansion. I currently have the extra 3 WD20EADS drives but I want to make sure I leave enough room though since the case is capable of holding up to 20 hard drives and I plan on eventually filling them.... just not right now.

Actually... I need lots of Molex connectors The Norco backplanes use the old Molex power connections, one per backplane for a total of 5. Plus a couple for the rear fans and the fan board...

Ouch, molex connectors. That's going to take some research.

Yeah. It's easy enough to find molex-to-sata splitters, just not the other way around

To get started you could buy the Antec 850 and since it is modular you could order additional molex connector cables for it from Antec. That would do the trick for you.

You could always just buy a bunch of molex splitter cables.

Unfortunately, those are Molex-to-SATA splitters. I would need SATA-to-Molex...

Anyways.. Just to be sure it was the power supply, I pulled a working unit from another computer (same model of PSU). Plugged in all the cables.. and the same result. Lights and fans flicker for a second and then shut off and nothing until I unplug the power supply for a couple minutes and then plug it back in. That made me think it was short somewhere so I started testing the module cables one by one and found the problem was with my 7-volt connection for the fan bracket. No idea why it is shorting out now after working fine for a couple months, but I took it out and everything is working now....
