My promedia ultra 5.1s are buzzing. I hate to see them go. What should I get that would even come close to matching the quality.
 
I know that what it is the amp dying. Would I be happy buying a receiver and use my speakers from my Ultra 5.1. I will connect to my video card using HDMI. Can I use the speakers without the subwoofer. In time I will probably replace the speakers for better ones.
 
Maybe. I am not sure what ohm the speakers are. If they are 8ohm, a receiver should be fine. If not, there could be issues.
 
dont worry about the speakers. unless they are 2 ohm or something most amps should handle them fine.
