Bought a new PSU and I read that it's recomended to have 26A on the 12v line, and this new 580w only has 19A...Should I take it back and try to get something with more amps?

this is going on a MSI K8N Neo2 plat
with a 3000+ Venice
6600 GT
5 case fans
cpu fan
2 roms
2 HDD

What brand are you using? If your PSU has dual 12v rails the spec per rail will look weaker, but they are not.

It's an echostar, not sure how "good" they are, but I needed something to test my mobo

580W and only 19A on the +12V? Sounds like an old ATX12V v1.2 or even v1.1 generic PSU. Get something better.

Either that or it's 20 pounds of BS in a 10 pound bag. it probably can't deliver its total output when all rails are in use. That 580w sounds like a really inflated number.

I agree with Korruption. Toss that PSU and get a name-brand model that actually delivers on its claims.

well damn, oh well, I have to wait prolly about a month for a damn RMA from MSI so, i'll have time to save money for a good PSU, any good recomendations around the 60 dollar range :)

I do have an Antec 350w, as my old one, and people have sent theirs back to Antec and got a new one with higher amps on the 12v, would this be a plausable idea? or would they send me a 350w again with higher amps, lol

ENERMAX Noisetaker EG425P-VE-SFMA for $66.00

That's about the best supply I know of for under $70. Quality power supplies unfortunately cost money. This one though should give you stable power for the setup you're currently running.

Remember that when buying a PSU, total wattage is only as reliable as the manufacturer is. Cheap vendors will rate their power supplies at absolute peak wattage (i.e., whatever they get just before the unit fries) at temperatures lower than most PC cases are likely to see (power supplies lose efficiency as temperatures rise). Better vendors tend to be a run fairly close to their listed specs. So it's not unusual that a cheap manufacturer's 500w PSU might fail in situations where a quality 400w unit would operate just fine.

ok so that has two rails? as the two 12v lines, what is the benefit of two rails over the one?

yOu can run your fans/acessories with the molex with one rail, and you mobo, vc, cpu with the other. This is so that a droop on one rail wont effect the other.

so I take it the diff lines are labled, or does it just automatically do it? because is there a possiblity of putting my vid, HSF, roms, and hdd's, on one line? or am I just over thinking this whole dual rail thing, lol

and I would be able to plug my VC and Heat sink Fan into one Molex connecter? I thought the instructions to my VC said to it be the only thing plugged into that molex connecter, as it needed so much power

RTHink off all the molex connectors as 1 rail and the mobo/cpu/video connector as the other.
