I've only got 512MB of memory here, and really starting to feel its limitations in BF1942, BF:V, and UT2k4. I have 512MB of GEIL Golden Dragon PC4000, but the highest it's ever seen is PC3700 speeds. I could either get the GEIL Ultra Platinum PC4000 512mb kit for $140 off of newegg, or I could get 1GB of Kreton Blitz PC3700 for like $180. I've heard some good things recently about Kreton memory, and I was wondering if the extra $40 would be worth the half GB of memor. I might have to keep the system till 2006, and I want to run into as few bottlenecks as possible. I know 1.5GB seems like overkill, but do most of you think it would be worth it in the long run?
 
Personally i would ditch the Geil PC4000 and try to sell it and then buy Mushkin PC3200 or PC3500 in which you can run tight timings. Set your divider to 5:4 and overclock that way. I would try to get your 2.8c up to 3.5Ghz.

I'm running on stock cooling, with no volt increase, at 3.2 prime stable. I don't want to spend the extra money on a better cooler, and I have had the GEIL running at 2-3-3-6 at PC3700 speeds. That's not too bad, and I don't really want the aggravation of trying to sell it off. I'm not sure 2-2-2-6 @ lower than PC3200 spec is better than 2-3-3-6 at PC3700 speeds, either.
 
I have used alot of different kinds from different manufactuers and my two favorites are Corsair and Mushkin.


Mushkin and Corsair run two of the clasiest opperations you will find in the memory business. Machines run the way they are supposed to run when I use their products. Gun to my head,I take Mushkin

Sell what you have and rock on with Mushkin

That's also A LOT of money for that memory, assuming it's BH-5, and a lot of volts, which I wouldn't feel comfortable with for any extended amount of time.
