My current rig, Core i5-2500, Asus P8Z68-V Pro and SATA spinners is way overdue for an upgrade. I need the communities help verifying compatibility of various new technologies that I am not familiar with. Although I don't really have a ceiling on price, I'm not looking to go bleeding edge. I'd just like to flirt with what's new out there. I would also like to add that I have no need, and will not be overclocking this new rig. I will be installing additional SSD's and mechanical SATA as backup and storage. Little to no gaming. Any higher end vid card choice is further down the road. What I really need is clarification on what is below.
I'm looking to build a new computer around a Ryzen 7 37XX or 38XX and X570 mobo, 16Gb mem with Nvme.
Where I'm getting confused when I'm searching Mobo's is Nvme. I see a lot of boards that spec different PCI Express slots. Is there a PCI Express spec that is synonymous with Nvme? I would like to use this technology as my boot and program location. Eventually I will be installing a better vid card and a PCI Express sound card.
Please enlighten me about NVME and what mobo/cpu combo you think would fit my needs.
