sometimes when i boot up into windows it only sees 256mb of ram and others it sees the full 1024mb of ram.

my motherboard is a KT3 ultra2 using 2x256meg pc3500 ultra Geil and 1x512meg pc3200 Shikaram. all timings are totally relaxed and can run at whatever speed i like.

the problem is it randomly boots seeing only 256 and sometimes 1024.

anyone know what this could be?

i just ran memtest and got the following errors:

failing address=00015c83c44 at 348.1mb 0800000
failing address=0000efd2008 at 239.1mb 07f0000

1 geil 256mb is in the first slot
the 512mb is in slot2
the last 256mb is in slot 3

Should i put the 512 first then the other 2?

i heard somewhere the bios takes the mem settings from the 1st stick?

they all work perfectly on their own.

guess they dont like playing with eachother :( now what do i do?

Some mobo's don't like to have all 3 dimms populated at the same time.Try to see if their's an BIOS update for your mobo. These mobos and memory are way to finicky anymore.

i believe i have the latest bios for my mobo MSI KT3 ultra2 bios ver 5.7

would resetting the bios help any?
