Need help with cdrom / case door

I need ideas on how to mod my antec sonata with a case door that can actually stay closed and still yet be able to eject my cd drive through the door. How would you do it?

I have a general idea (cutout the cdrom sized plastic from the door, attach it somehow to the actual cdrom cover. How about the open/close cd mechanism?

Same with the power/reset buttons. I'd like to keep the sleek look with the door closed but have all the functions available with it being closed.

Or is this rather completely impractical and not worth the effort?
