Need help w/ Shuttle

Hey guys, I recently bought components for a Shuttle SZ77R5 build and tried to put it together last night. I'm having lots of trouble getting it to work. 1. There is no video signal when using the onboard video (HDMI or DVI). 2. Since the onboard video didn't work, I inserted a simple and cheap discrete gpu. The video came on and I was finally able to get into the bios. 3. When I tried to instal windows 7, I got the BSOD with the error: page fault in nonpaged area. 4. After the BSOD the video will stop working on the discrete gpu as well and doesn't come back on until a few restarts or holding down the cmos clear button.
I have tried removing all the external components and tried to isolate the problem but I can't seem to figure it out. Under the bios, my CPU and ram are both detected. Can anyone please help?
My components are Shuttle SZ77R5, I7-3770, 16gb (2x8gb) DDR3 G.Skill Ares 1600, Samsung 830 128gb SSD, some generic DVD drive, and a cheap MSi gpu (not sure which model since it's my bro's that I used to troubleshoot).
 
Sounds like you need to set the bios use the integrated gpu, and the bsod error is fram RAM
 
I've tried to use the integrated gpu but the bios defaults back to its original settings after I selected the integrated option and exit out of bios. The thing that puzzles me the most is why it works on the discrete gpu at times and then I get no video signal at other times when I turn on the computer. I looked up the BSOD page fault error and meaning points to it being the ram but other people have said it can be several causes other than ram. I guess I can always buy a cheap single dimm and see if it helps. There's a bios upgrade as well on the shuttle site so I'm gonna try upgrading with a flash drive.
 
Are you sure your CPU is seated properly? I agree the most likely BOSD issue will be Ram but it maybe a combination of RAm and CPU. Remember the On board GPU is using the system ram, so its important that that is correct.

As I say check you CPU is well seated.
Try with just one stick of RAM see if that helps.

Do not try and flash the bios if the system is unstable, if that goes wrong you are sunk.
 
I think it has to do with the CPU as well. Another person in a different forum said he had the same issue with the video signal and shuttle told him that an update to the bios is required for ivy bridge compatibility. He has the same CPU as me. He said shuttle is sending him a bios card (the bios card is not smoldered so you can detach it). I'll have to wait until tomorrow to verify this with shuttle since they're closed on weekends. I did check to see if the CPU was seated properly last night.
 
the bios chip is easy to change, its a zero force socket which is excellent. You just have to ensure you get it the right way round as its symetrical. Make sure you note down which way round it goes before you take it out.
If they are sending you a bios you can try flashing as you would be no worse off should it fail and would just have to wait for a new chip. I have 2 bios chips and am forever swapping them over.
 
Thanks for the replies guys, I really do appreciate it. Right now I'm leaning towards returning this Shuttle and just going with a mid tower size build. I've never had an issue with video signals acting like this before in my life. With it showing video from the discrete gpu one minute to showing no video the next, I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with the motherboard. I even had the bios upgrade ready to go on the flash drive and couldn't get the Shuttle to produce a video signal so I had no way of proceeding with the upgrade.
 
I am also in the process of putting together my Shuttle SZ77R5 so I might run into the same issue soon. I called shuttle when it was released and they said they were shipping them with a bios that wasn't compatible with ivy bridge (only sandy bridge) and a bios update was needed before it would work. Its hard to believe they would do this but maybe it was just the first batch they let out the door like that... where did you buy yours?
