Need help real quick PLEASE !

OK I have a 9700 pro with the new drivers. Ok I noticed that madden 2004 was runnin choppy. So I went into the video card settings to see what was up. In the "SMARTGART" tap is has you AGP setting. I can select off, 4x, and 8x. I noticed it was on off so I put it up to 4x. It said it had to restart, it did I looked and it was back on off. I tried this several times and it still stays on off. You think this could be my problem ?
 
I just realized I don't think the VGA drivers for the mobo are installed. I put in the cd to install them and while installing it said it couldn't be installed on the current graphics device. Think I should take out the video card to in stall it ? That could be it ?
 
try uninstalling the grafx card drivers, restarting, then trying ot intall the agp port drivers.
