ok i was using my old computer with windows 98 and i shut it down then about an hour later i went to go back on it and wouldnt make any nosie like it was booting. i checked everything i reseted the cmos etc. then i removed the ide cable for the harddrive and tryed to boot up and it makes noise like its booting up i cant figure why this happend or why it wont work no visual nothing

Define noise. Are the fans spinning? Does it make any beeps? If so, how many?

ok power supply working no beeps usually when i start it up it has one beep like a winding like is supposed to but now when i try to start it up no beeps just silence and u can hear harddrive loading but nothing but when i unplug ide for harddrvie it windes up then beeps like its supposed to i tryed replacing ide cable and still have a problem

If you unhook the IDE hard drive and try to boot up, do you get anything on the monitor? If all is well, it should power on and show stuff on the screen even with no hard drive.

nothing notta just sounds like its booting up and nothing.
I cant seem to figure it out. any ideas

If it makes the POST sound, but doesnt show any video, its probably either the MB or the video card. Have you tried a different video card?

i replaced the video card does the same thing every time flashes on the monitor then goes blank and wont attempt to boot with ide plugged in but will make boot sounds without it pluggged in
