Need help picking pc components

Hi guys. I'm upgrading my pc audio this year and I have some questions. I need help picking a pc soundcard or dac. I'm not going to be using onboard audio. I use iTunes but I'm switching my library to foobar for higher quality audio playback.. I use headphones mainly and plan to get speakers or monitors later this year. The headphones need to be closed as I assume the open ones leak too much sound. I will be adding a boom or clip mic for gaming. My budget is 1000-1500 for new and good quality headphones, soundcard/dac, and headphone amp. What are some options in that range?
 
Is this for music, gaming, or both? Why not open? If you also plan to have speakers? Kind of limits things. You really want open or semi open for games and movies.
 
How much audio leaks from the open design? For example HD 650? My situation is i listen to music and game usually with people in same living room typically watching tv. They don't like to hear noises from my games or music which is why I was preferring closed headphones. My speaker situation is different. I have a 30 inch monitor with 2.1 surround thx from razor with a sub. It rarely is on tho. Almost all the time I'm using headphones. I currently use Psycho surround headset which I liked for gaming but music is complete trash. I am looking at xonar essence one but I would like other options to really figure out something that works for me. I listen to 2-3 hrs of music a day and 1-2 hours of gaming. I'd like to upgrade to higher quality headphones which probably need dedicated amp...etc.
 
Ok then,

AKG 550 is probably the best, closed music/gaming headphone you can get right now. A Beyerdynamic 770 would be another good choice. The AKG sounds better overall though.

You might just want to get a receiver with hdmi input for your sound card. A good Denon AVR 1613 receiver should do very well as an amp and give you a boatload of options too.
 
Yeah with a $1000-1500 budget go the HDMI video card to AV Receiver route.
