Need Help Picking out a case

I am looking for a new case to build my system but I am having trouble finding one within the Specs I need.

Needs to fits within specific dimentions 20" high by 9.5" wide Depth is not an issue
4 HD bays
Clear side window
USB and Audio on the front
Preferably no door
I prefer black but am open to suggestions
Needs to have excellent cooling without being water cooled.
Dont want to spend much more than 150$ on the case.

I was thinking about the Thermaltake Matrix VX but the reviews arent so great.

This case seems to have everything I need do you know of any specific issues or is that just your general opinion? Im not a Huge fan of the Decals but I can get rid of those pretty easy other than that it seems solid.

That raidmax is one ugly mofo. It has a door and you said you'd prefer one without it. You also said you wanted excellent cooling and this case only has a 80mm exhaust fan at the back. 120mm fans is where it's at nowadays, 80mm fans were ok in the dark ages. ;)

And yeah.. avoid Raidmax. I built a rig in a Raidmax chassis a while back (before I knew better) and it was a cheap piece of trash. Sharp edges, crappy plastics... it's just bad.
 
I have to disagree how is the Enermax chakra a bad case? It has decent airflow, is toolless and looks clean with hidden cd drive covers. Just because you hear those couple companies names all the time doesn't mean that other companies don't have good cases aswell.

Li lian or silverstoner, cooler master good on a buget, thermaltake most = plastic cheap rubish and antec lol p180 looks like a fridge, cases have to look good too imo but if you like the look of a fridge i guess its ok.
 
I "upgraded" from a custom PC-7B, to an Antec P180... Stupid, silly, foolish thing to do. I totally regretted that move, and as of 4 weeks ago, got a modded G70 case (Lain Li) and threw that POS out into the trash..

I'll stick to Lain Li from here on out.

just look at xoxide's selection, they have a good selection of SILVERSTONE not silverstoner. scrub. :p. chieftec's r nice for being full tower. now im not a fan of wendell aka fatal1ty or w/e, but the case with his s/n on it is nice. dont get anything tacky tho, something clean and solid like the above. u want something tacky, here u go, lol.

Unfortunately I cant go with a full tower Case due to where I have to fit in inside a desk. My PC room is also the Spare bedroom in my house and has to look good for guests.

I like the Antec 900 However that top fan will blow directly into a shelf and the Buttons and USB will be impossible to get to in my setup. Pluse only 3 Bays in the front and I have 2 DVD drives a floppy needed for raid and hoping to get a fan controller. If the buttons and USB were on the front and it had one more drive bay this would be a must buy.

Not a huge Lian - Li fan dont flame me but just dont like the simple look.

I still like the looks of the raid max minus the lettering which a little acetone will take care of and the sider bar comes off. I might get a couple and see what works for me.

My biggest worry is fitting my Zallman 9700 in a mid tower and having adequate cooling with the case shoved in a desk. I can mod the desk a little for cooling purposes but the height has to fit unfortunately.

No problem i will help who i can. That Zalman will fit fine. And to help cooling i would have to say lap the HSF, and apply the thermal paste as perfectly as you can. And another recommendation would be getting a little bit higher CFM fans for the case. Maybe about 55-60cfmm this is so it runs perfectly from the start. And you dont have to take it aprt later to add new fans. Also when you do the wire management use as many zip ties as you can, or do a really good job tucking the cables behind things.

What ever happened to drilling holes for a 120mm fan? In all honesty, if you understand the cooling strategy of the Smilodon it actually works quite well.

I bought a modular PS so im going ot work on Cabling as stuff comes in I did go with the Raidmax finally after much debate all my parts should be here by the end of the week. I bought a tube of artic silver 5 also so ill make sure the paste is right.

What are you recomendations for fans I planned on upgrading from the start. I like the Blue LED but I am considering upgrading to 120 MM but not sure on placement need to look at the case first. Can you guys recomend a good Blue LED 120 MM case fan for an upgrade?

Another thought/option, (depending on how handy you are and how much/little you move your PC around,) would be to build the PC inside of the actual cabinet of the desk. It would make for an interesting build log/conversation piece. ;)
 
These fans cost a little bit, but are worth it. Use this one as an intake.

And use this fan as the exhast fan. It is loud, but it comes with a fan controller, so you can moderate its noise. But it moves 73cfm at full speed. This fan will compensate for the case only having 1 120mm fan. And if you dont like it, just get 1 extra fan that i listed lastly.

After all my bantering back and forth about this case I recieved it today and the front panel is completely broke all 6 pegs that hold it on. Now the Box is not in that bad of shape so was the case broke from manufacturing or did it happen in shipping no one can know. Anyway called the Egg and they are sending me a New Front Panel overnight (I am glad there are still a few companies out there that know what customer service is!)

Other than that the Case looks nice not a whole lot of room to change the fan size from 80 mm to 120mm without getting very creative. The 120 in front will be cake to replace especially since the panel covering it is broken off. A Blue LED fan will go nice on the front behind the Screen.

The lettering that no one likes is silk screened on so acetone isnt going to work unless I want to paint the whole case over. But the Side bar comes out easily and just might have to stay out.

One thing I noticed that I dont like is the back PCI card slots have pop outs so if you change your cards alot then you dont have any extra cover I think thats kind of cheap.

Anyway Ill keep you guys posted thanks for all of the advice so far the build is scheduled for this weekend so Ill post pics once its done.
