Need help overclocking E6400

well for one thing you need to up your cpu core voltage...im actually suprised you were able to get 2.6 at only 1.3 volts. Im running my e6400 at 2.8ghz with ~1.47 volts. Also you may need to lower your North bridge (MCH chipset) voltage to say 1.4v or so...on my system it wont boot over 1.5 and usually even that is wildly unstable.

I read somewhere that the stock vcore is 1.2v for the E6400.

And 1.55v is the lowest MCH value, the others are 1.65v and up or AUTO.

yea as far as the mch voltage goes, well of course its different than mine i have a different chipset! i didnt think (sometimes im an idiot like that lol). What chipset is your mobo? And yea that may be the stock voltage on the cpu (~1.2v)...but your trying to oc so stock aint gonna cut it. So trying upping both the mch voltage and vcore (one at a time though) and see if that helps

I'm not really sure what's the chipset.... so here's the specs for my mobo

its an intel 975x. Regardless of that fact you need to start slowly raising your mch voltage to see if you can regain stability. Also read an overclocking guide so you can start to understand what the different settings and such mean from an overclocking standpoint.. as in what to change to get said desired effect. just google How to overclock or something like that

I already did that, but every information I get is different... that's why I'm asking here.

Anyways, I increased the MCH to 1.65 and tried to boot it with vcore 1.3v and 350MHz with RAM running at 350MHz (700MHz).

It did the same thing and just wouldn't start at all. I then increased the vcore to 1.325, 1.35, 1.375 and 1.4, but it wouldn't start. I kept the vcore at 1.325 and put it FSB back at 333MHz and left the MCH at 1.65. No problem except the increased idle temp (41C)

(Semi) Success!

I realised what the problem was. When I set the RAM at SPD, everything worked. The FSB is now at 400MHz, RAM at 800MHz (still at SPD, which is 5-6-6-18-24) and vcore is at 1.4v.

10 minutes ago, it was at 1.375v but after running 10min of orthos at 55C, I decided to open Firefox to tell you guys it worked, but it crashed...

Last question, why is my RAM not accepting the timings I give it? I'm following the specs, which are 5-5-5-15-22. The voltage for the RAM is at 2.1 which is the stock value (since I'm not overclocking the RAM).

Edit: 14min into Orthos (Small FFTs) and Firefox browsing, temperatures are at 56C.
