Well, like a moron I tightened the outlet on my Eheim 1048 and heard a small crack. There's the tiniest hairline crack, but it's enough to start a leak. It shouldn't be difficult to fix, but I'm not sure what to use to plug the crack. I was looking at a product called Marine Goop that I can pick up at the local Home Depot. Does anyone know anything about this product? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks! :)

if itll work (since ive never tried) try either weld-on or normal mek model glue (testors makes it..looks like a bottle of water with a brush in it) apply that let it melt the plastic together and cure over night then try again...but be more careful

Ran it for about a year with silicon sealant then picked up the repair part at D-Tek>

Trust me, I will. I bought it used, and the guy who shipped it left the outlet screwed on as tight as possible. Not realizing it I attempted to tighten it a bit more and heard a small crack.

What does everyone think about a substance I can use to fix this problem? Is the Marine Goop easy to work with? Should I go with some sort of clear epoxy instead? The crack is in a place that the pump cover needs to cover, so I don't want something that will be bulky and get in the way. I'd also prefer something quick drying that won't have to sit for 24 or 48 hours so that I can get back to leak testing, but I don't know if that will happen.

Whatever you use, don't rush to use it before the recommended time unless you're sure it's finished sealing...Could cause problems down the road.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to rush things. I just want to make sure that I don't take someone's advice and use a product that needs 72 hours to set and dry when there's an equal product that will only take 12 or 24.

if itll work man MEK or weld on...both should cure in 24 hours with no problems.
