So I am stuck between choosing these Samsung LCDs. I will be running them on a ATI 5870 gfx card, mainly for gaming.

Samsung 2494HM or SW not sure of the difference except HDMI...
Samsung P2370HD
and Samsung 2343BWX

All look very attractive to me, with little differences, its soo hard to make up my mind. I read reviews for all of them but I havent gotten enough feedback from actual non-biased consumer users like us.

It would be cool if you guys that own / or seen these monitors could give me some feedback.

Also, whichever monitor I chose, I will be getting 2 of them.

Now I started looking at the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 ... oh man too many options !!!

2494hm is the best unless you want TV capabilities. The XL2370 is more responsive but will have far worse screen uniformity as it is Edge Lit LED and costs more as well. If you are not in a dark room consistently and want responsiveness over a slight boost in blacks/contrast then go for the LED. Be warned though I owned the Acer LED and it had horrible screen uniformity also some reviews claim the XL2370 also suffers from the same issues.

Also check out the Prad/digital versus reviews for the
LG W2442PA-BF
Ben Q G2412HD
LG W2361v
They are all in the 250$ range.

Keep in mind the new Acer 1080p 120hz is coming out soon but will cost a lot more. Also I can recomend the Samsung F2380 with calibration it's amazing for gaming and has extremely deep blacks, high contrast and low input lag. There is minor black crush and some dark color smearing in some games but it's unoticable most of the time (I also own the 2233rz and it's hard to tell the difference except for the dark color smearing which rarely occurs.)

You also may want to consider getting two different monitors. The XL2370/2494hm for gaming and the F2380 for movies or P2370Hd for TV.....that way you get the best of both worlds.

Which are better the 2494HM or the SW ? IS the only difference teh HDMI ? If so why should I get HM over the SW ?

Samsung F2380 is 10x better (3,000:1 static vs 1,000:1) and also has an HAS stand. Both have equal motion resolution and color , but the F2380 has better screen uniformity (according to PRAD.de) and less input lag, it is also cheaper from most venders.

2494 is a bad choice over the F2380. If you must have it get the HDMI version you never know what you might want in the future.

According to digital versus direct comparison, correct me if I am wrong, it seems that it is showing the 2494HM as the better monitor.

Specs for F2380M (From Digital Versus):
Diagonal screen size 23 pouces
Type C-PVA
Resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels
Response time 8 ms
Interfaces (HDMI / DVI / VGA / YUV) 1 / 1 / 1 / 0
Options Ajustable en hauteur, pivot, enceintes, prise casque
Viewing angles (H/V) 178° / 178°

Specs for 2494HM (From Digital Versus):
Diagonal screen size 24 pouces
Type TN
Resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels pixels
Response time 5 ms
Interfaces (HDMI / DVI / VGA / YUV) 1 / 1 / 1 / 0
Options Pied ajustable en hauteur, pivot, plateau
Hub USB 2 ports
Enceinte 2 x 3 Watt
Viewing angles (H/V) 170 ° / 160 °

If you think 2 USB ports and a lower manufacturer quote of the response time (which are stated to be almost equal in the review) over the static contrast ratio/black depth that beats out most tv's, and a great veiwing angle then yes the 2494 is better. Also it's TN so it will have worse screen uniformity and more likely to suffer from backlight bleed.

I dont need USB ports, as of right now I dont need the HDMI... Wow this is hard, which monitor did better on the test 'coz the wording confused me?

Guys What if I want to get 3 of these monitors.... 2494 for example.. would it work for Eyefnity, if 2 of them were SW and 1 was HM ? or all 3 need to be the same? I really dont need the speakers that come on the HM model

Right so I can have 2 with the DVI and 3rd via display port right? Do the 2494 have display port ?

Also ..so if dont want HDMI .. i can just get the SW versions right?

The USB ports are actually kinda handy, but the even without the USB ports, the HAS stand is probably one of the best monitor stands I've seen.

The 2494's don't have Display Port, Only: VGA, DVI-D, and HDMI(HM Only). Yeah, if you have no need for HDMI, then the SW is essentially the same monitor. I got the HM because I am considering getting a HDDVR so I can watch TV on my second monitor whenever. You might be able to use something like this though: http://www.startech.com/item/DP2DVI-DisplayPort-to-DVI-Cable-Adapter.aspx. I may be wrong, I don't have an ATI card.

I'm not sure samsung even makes an lcd with displayport other than the new eyefinity setup.

Yeah, so basically if I got 3 of the 2494 monitors, 2 would be connected via DVI, and one with a HDMI to DISPLAY port adapter right ???

I believe that you have to get an active adapter and not a passive one. ATI catalyst needs to see the 3rd monitor as displayport or it will not work. The adapters run about $80 from what I have read.

Here is a link to the dell p2310h. You may want to look at those. They have displayport not sure if you are stuck on samsung or not but here it is.

p2310h

I have seen others on here use those for efinity.

If Iw as goingto get 3x 2494 ... would it be ok if i got 1 2494 HM and 2 2494 SW ? Thats 80$ saved right there..
