need help choosing between 2 brands

i just sold my digital camera on the forums here. i decided it was time for an upgrade. ive been looking for a few weeks now and ive came upone 2 great cameras.

canon powershot s1 IS: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s1-review/index.shtml

both of these cameras are similar. the canon is about 50 do0llars cheaper though. i also know its .8mp shy of the konica camera. basically im boiling down to: will the 50 bucks be worth spending if i were to get the z3? so far, the video and pictures seem to be great on both cameras. they both have nice video recording with sound, stabilization, and zoom available. so far im leaning towards the canon. i also dont have photography experience so i thought i would ask you guys.

what do you think? alternatives are welcome.

To be honest, I would prefer the Canon, I don't really know the Konica's namebrand, reputation, features, etc. I will tell you this though, I was very much considering the Canon S1 IS before I saw my camera. I would have bought it too if they had a black one :p .

I really rave about the video that it captures, it looks way better than my Canon Pro 1 (imo) videos and mine has 8 megapixels! Too bad you cannot take macro's with the S1 IS :( .
However, the Canon S1 IS does have Image stabilization which is a must have.

thanks for the info. it also applies the image stabilizer as well as the zoom on video stream. rawk!

Oh yeah? Wow, mine doesn't do that :( :mad: .

I forgot about the 10x zoom ( I heard about Puple Fringing on 10x zoom though). Mine has 7x :mad: . But, I love my Canon Pro1 and wouldn't trade it for the world :) .
 
its nice to know they are god quality cameras. i had a cheap concord camera but the pictures were amazing, better than more expensive HP and other cameras when i was testing them for a week or so each from walmart till i decided on the concord. ill be ordering soon.

ill check resellerratings on some stores, but is there any known camera sales website thats good for price and feedback?
 
i now too shoot canon. this camera is amazing. 7-10 day shipping from beachcamera.com took 3 days :)

the video is amazing, i have recorded one. keep in mind this is highly compressed divx 5.0.2 with audio deleted. the original quality in decent light is madness!! same with the pics. not the best for low light, but the flash is bright enough for 99% of my low light uses.

i cut my thumb pretty bad trying to open the damn memory card plastic-airtight-stupid pomfs .... lol. if anyone wants to mirror, id appreciate it :)
