Need Help A8N NB Cooler

I have an A8N NB cooler from dangerden installing it on the premium board. I got the orginal cooler off to find like a black rubber mat around the chip do i pull this off or just leave it when i install the block. Thanks for any help

If it's around the chip, leave it alone. It helps to stabilize the heatsink/block.
 
My A8N-SLI had that on it as well. I think it is to keep the block from possibly shorting out some components.
