Need Graphics for games!!!!

Right now I have 2 gig memory, 1900 AIW graphics, Opty 175 not OC’d at present.
MoBo is Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe crossfire.
What would be a good graphics card for this computer for games.
I was thinking of two 1950 Pro’s or just wait for the next gen stuff next month or is that going to be to much over Kill for the Opty 175?

Any and all input welcome. Since I do not know what the limits of the Opty 175 are in this computer.

Yes I will oc this thing once I get it all set up to run quick.

PSU is a Tagan 1kw

Well, NVIDIA is launching new cards (the 8800 GT), near the end of this month and in November, a new version of the 8800 GTS will be released. AMD is also set to release the HD 2950 Pro in November. As I've said in countless other threads, never play the waiting game, but this close to the launch of these cards, you are probably better off, in seeing which one offers you the best bang for your buck. Right now, the best bang for your buck, is NVIDIA's 8800 GTS 320, followed by AMD's HD 2900 Pro, so if you really want to buy something now, look at those two.
 
I am more concerned about the ability of the Opty to handle the new type graphics cards.

Oh by the way I have all these Vista upgrades sitting around also but don't know if I should install them yet. My new computer is Vista 64 and no problems.

Sorry, got a little carried away with the graphics cards bit and forgot to answer that question :)

For a single card (and considering the choices I gave you), I think you'll be ok.
If you choose a 8800 GTX/Ultra however, then you would definitely be better off in getting a new CPU too. Something like a C2D E6600 or better.

The 320mb GTS's lack of texture memory is starting to hurt it in the newer games coming out. I think it's losing it's 'bang for the buck' value. Between the two, I think the 2900 Pro is a better choice. Same damn thing as a XT, just lower clocks.

But at this point being only 12 days away from the 8800GT launch, I would wait and see how it does. I am in agreement with Silus on the waiting game thing.
 
Ok so at this time I should wait for the 8800GTS or the 2950x2x.

I guess I will put the new cards into both of my game machines then.

I know the one machine with the 2 quad xeons at 3.0ghz can use the new graphics ok.
Then I will take the x1950 Pro out and not use it in the Opty machine and also get new graphics cards into it. Probly put 2-2950x2x into the Opty machine then.

I guess I will just sell the x1900 aiw and the x1950 Pro then. So I will wait til the new stuff comes out then,

Then maybe next year make another new machine when the x48 comes out.
