I currently have a single 74GB Raptor in a system that I use primarily for gaming. I allso want to use this system for streaming some media. Obviously I do not have enough disk space. This is where my questions come into play. I want my games to have the best IO and I want the best and largest drive I can get for right around $100.

Questions?

What drives fit my budget with performance, reliability and capacity?
Should I install my OS (XP) on the high capacity drive and games installs on the Raptor? OS on the raptor with games? Where is an optimal place for swap file. My specs should be in my sig.

Aha, my first opportunity! Here is a list of hard drive prices, sorted by price per gigabyte. Of special interest is the WD5000AAKS - at 21 cents per gigabyte, it's the second cheapest drive in the sites I indexed (!) and it's brand new. For $105, it's quite a good deal. Here's a review of its big brother the 75000AAKS. It basically falls in behind the 7K1000 and the Raptor, but does pretty well in power consumption and noise.

Ok I purchased a SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD403LJ 400GB.

Should I install the OS on the SAMSUNG or my Raptor. Should I leave my Raptor only for Game files? Where do you think my Swapfile should go?
