I'm looking at reusing a mobo that has sockets for dual 771 Xeon CPUs. I need to see what else is out there other than the Dynatrons I found on Newegg. From what I can tell they do a good job but are noisy as hell. How good are the solutions from intel?

I'm looking for the same thing! It seems that there's a deadening silence around the net about coolers for socket 771. =(

I did find one that looked interesting. It's the heatsink from an IBM Thinkstation D10 (FRU 41R5502), which I was able to find for $10 (but about $9 shipping each!):

The downside is that it looks a lot like the basic 2U Intel aluminum cooler with an 60mm? PWM fan on top.

Maybe just getting two Super Micro SNK-P0025P's and putting 80mm fans on top would be better?

It really cheeses me to have to pay 50% more for my heatsinks than the CPUs. =( Especially for a heatsink that I can't use on _any_ other motherboard. Spending a good chunk more for a Thermalright and the bolt through kit is seeming nicer and nicer, since they'd work great and I could re-use them when this system craps out. =(
