Need a fully modular recommendation

Bought a Silverstone 750w fully modular on the forums, and before I bought it, I was made aware that it had issues with the Molex ports. I was fine with this, as I don't actually need any molex for my coming build. However, the PSU tested out with all sorts of issues, and is unusable. Too bad, too. Got a steal price on it. It was this model:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256009

That same model would do me just fine. My only possible question is, are there any other makers of fully modular PSUs, out there? Additionally, I am planning on Crossfire XFX 5850's down the road (once the prices stop being nuts). I would like a PSU with the following specs:

700w +
fully modular (even ATX header)
comes with short cables and regular cable sets
fully sleeved cables
80+ certified GOLD
4x PCI-E w/2x 8pin (if that doesn't drive the price up, too much)
20A 12v rails (can be multiple at this spec, or one large one ...like Corsair TX)

so what do you guys think? I have used, with much success, the following:

corsair
enermax
antec
thermaltake
silverstone
seasonic

But I'm open to other reputable brands. I'm not picky on the number of rails, really.

The only PSU that can come close to matching all of those requirements is the Seasonic X-750. The only one that it doesn't meet is the short and long cable sets.

Ultra X4 is also fully modular, but I think you would be just as well off, or better with the Silverstone Strider...or Silverstone Decathalon.

Topower Powerbird series are also fully modular.

that seasonic looks good, but the sleeving on it doesn't appear to be the best (minor issue). I'll have to check the specs on it, the newegg page doesn't tell me much.

does it have a short cable set? the product info on newegg, and even their own website doesn't say. reading the [H] review, no mention of short cables...yet

definitely need short cables. intended case is this: http://www.lan-gear.com/products.php

[H] review looks good on the seasonic. more than I wanted to spend, though. I can just replace the silverstone for $110 AR, although I don't get 8-pin PCI-E.

Only mfr I have ever heard of selling different lengths of cables is Silverstone.

I see no problem with the sleeving on the Seasonic...looks just as good as the Silverstone. Better even, it looks like less wire is sticking out of the sleeving on the Seasonic.

You asked for fully modular and 80 plus Gold.

Fully modular isn't cheap.
80 plus Gold...is very expensive...it is called Gold for a reason.

As already stated also...there is very slim pickings in the fully modular category...beggars can't be choosers

I dont know if you can find compatible and shorter cable kits but I have to give props to the Seasonic X. It is *the* next generation power supply. My experience with the 650w version is that is did come with different lengths of cables for everything but the 24pin but I dont know if they would be right for you. The 750 come with more cables than the 650 so some may be shorter then what I had (mine were almost perfect for my CM 690).

You might be able to find the Seasonic significantly cheaper than Newegg. I think Tech Sunny has it for less. I haven't ever bought from them but I think there is an employee on this board as well as customers so you might could ask.

If shorter cables aren't available Seasonic might actually be willing to make you custom ones. I've heard of such things happening . Or just get a crimper, some pins, and heat shrink and do things the [H]ard way.

Thanks guys. I'm considering all options. I guess 80+ gold isn't necessary. I tend not to buy PSUs very often though, and like to spend the right amount to carry me for lots of different configs, for 2 years or so.

Dropping the 80+ Gold... does that change the equation, much?

dropping the fully modular requirement would open you up to more choices.

The only fully modular units that I can think of available in North America that are worth having. Are the Seasonic X series, the Silverstone Strider, Silverstone Decathalon, Ultra X4 or X3 and the Topower Powerbird.
The X-750 is $180-$200, as you have already seen
The Topower comes in 800W, 900W and 1100W and those are $150-$250
The Ultra isn't as good as any of the others already listed and the 750W cost about $160.

So if the Seasonic is too expensive for you, then I would say either get another Silverstone or get this
