For those of you who have an AMD64 3000+, what is the best oc that you've made or know of? I have mine running at 2.15 GHz(215mhz w/10 multiplier) right now but I think I still have a lot of room to mess with. My whole setup is in my sig. I'm on stock cooling w/ 1.525 V to CPU and 1.6 V to memory. Temps are low- I've yet to go above 32C even when playing games. I think I could get more if I could figure out how to set dividers for my memory cause right now its @ 1:1, but not sure how to do that. Basically, what suggestions do you guys have to OC my CPU a bit more, or am I pretty close to top-end already?

Many people have been getting about 2400-2500 mhz on good air cooling on the A64's if not higher. www.overclockers.com has a pretty good database for this sort of thing, you might want to see how your stepping adds up...not all of the entries are real, (like there might be a 99.99 ghz overclock listed) but if you use common sense it is quite a useful database.

Thanks but all that site really does is show what people are getting out of their CPU's. I know that's what I asked, but anyone got some good pointers on where to start to get a little more out of my A64? I thought 2.15 Ghz was good, but man, if I could get 2.4Ghz out of it, that'd be awesome!
Anyone else w/suggestions?

I'd check out your motherboard manual or explore your BIOS a little bit and then I think you'll be able to find it...I don't know, that what makes sense to me...you also might be able to pump a little more voltage into your memory and relax timings and overclock that RAM a little.

Well, after scouring thru my Bios page/settings(and those of you who own a Gigabyte mobo know the manuals that come with it pretty much suck), I have not been able to mess with my memory settings. So, I'm kind of stuck where I'm at now. All I've pretty much been able to change for my OC are the bus speed, multiplier, and voltages. I haven't really pushed voltages yet so as I said, I think I still have room to play with there but other than that, I don't know what other changes I can make to get a better OC. The highest I've gotten was 2.3Ghz but it's only stable for a little while and then reboots. I guess I'll have to try some other things. The problem is, from what I've read, the best(only???) way to run AMD64's is in synch w/ your memory so I think that is what is keeping me stuck at where I am.
Also, one question for those who own a Gigabyte mobo- they come with a program in which you can do the oc'ing while in windows. Is that program any good or are you better doing it yourself thru the bios?

I am running my 3000+ 512k at 2.4ghz on stock HSF and stock voltage with room to go further. I lucked out buying memory that will clock to 240mhz and beyond with a little extra voltage (crucial 8t 512mb), but I am sure that if you ran out of sync it would not be that bad of a performance hit.

You just upped the FSB to 240 then, huh? What voltage are you running your memory at? So you think it may be my memory holding me back? The highest I've gotten my memory to go is 220Mhz but my comp wasn't completely stable. It'd reboot every so often. It is Kingston Valueram.

Yep. Upped the voltage from 2.65 to 2.8v. I don't know, all chips are different, but most people can get thier 3000+ to at least 2.3 or 2.4ghz even on sotck cooling, so I am guessing it is your memory. The crucial ram I am running is notorious for OCing to high FSB, but the kingston you got is not. If I were you, I would run the ram out of sync.

Ok, but I'm not quite sure how to do that. I've looked every in my bios and can't seem to find on how to set/change dividers. Seeing as 215 is pretty much my top end on the memory, should I just lower my memory speed and then raise my CPU speed? I guess that is pretty much "setting my dividers", right?
