Need a Budget Card

Just like half the people here I need a budget card. I have been through many a post and have noticed that either 1) they have a lower budget 2) they have a higher budget 3) they don't play games or 4) they need AGP.

I need a PCI-E budget card. I'm looking at an XFX Geforce 6600 GT 128 DDR3 for about $130 after MIR. Does anything better come to anyone's mind?

Budget: Loosly $150 absolutly $200

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies...

Can I unlock any 6800 PCI-E card?

If I can't then the contest deffinatly seems to be between these two

XFX PVT43GND GeForce 6600 GT PCI Express 128MB DDR3
Sapphire Radeon X800 GT PCI Express 128MB DDR3

Which seems better?

The x800GTO2 seems a bit too expensive for me. Which is better though? An x800 plain or an x800 GT?

X800GT is better than a plain X800.

The x800 is 12 pipes vs the x800gt 8 pipes, but has slower memory (700 vs 980 mhz) and core won't overclock as much since it uses the x800xl core. I think these cards are about the same in performance.

The best card I see for the $150 to $200 range is a x800gto for about $175. For an extra $25 its an x800gt with 4 more pipes! thats another 50% processing power and 256MB of ram. Ohcourse if your on the Nvidia side you can try the 6800nu and try unlocking it, but that becomes a game of luck and you still only get 128 MB of ram.

Links at Newegg for the x800GTO

and the 6800

Forget my suggestion about the 6800 pci-e cards. I just read you can't unlock the 6800 pci-e cards (only works on the agp cards). If your on AGP though the 6800nu is still a good bet.

Yes I was thinking of the GTO vs. the X800. ATI has too many mid range cards. Can't keep the specs straight in my head.

Thing is, the X800 GTO2 has a 100% success rate unlocking to an X850 XT (almost all can even hit X850 XT-PE specs, but that isn't guaranteed).

For a $250 card to have the same performance as a $425 card....that's not bad!

If you want to spend under $150 you have the choice of 6600gt (8 pipes, 500 core, 1000 mem) or the x800 128mb (12 pipes, 400 core, 700 mem). I think the x800 will beat the 6600gt mostly. I might be wrong though. Its only $120 AR (rebate ends 10/31) Either way they are very close in proformance and it really just comes down to wheather you prefer ATI or Nvidia

There are quite a few 6600GT between the price of $135 to $150 at newegg so I didn't link them.
