Asus P5N-E SLI | OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Rev. 2 Dual Channel | e4300 | Vista Ult.
OK, here's the thing: I have a 2x1gb memory kit installed and one of the modules is bad. I've asked for an RMA and was told that both modules need to be returned. I absolutely need this machine. The RMA expires in 12 days. So do I RMA the memory and:
A) Buy a 1 gb module
Pro: Would let me keep running now and have matched RAM later
Con: Would eventually end up with 3GB that would only run single channel
B) Buy a 2 x 512 kit
Pro: Would let me keep running now and have dual channel later with returned memory
Con: Mixed RAM. 3GB that would fill all the slots and possibly force me to run at 2T
C) Stand pat and RMA the memory
Pro: Save money
Con: Walk the Earth rig-less, being a pest to me wife, a grouch to my friends, and a scourge to all mankind, until my memory is returned.
I've "googled" the net for most of my info. However if I'm making wrong assumptions, please correct me.
