Help!

This is my 2nd NEC/Mitsubishi DiamondPro 930 SB and I am having the same problems!!! The screen sort of has a slight shake to it.... it jiggles around the edges a little. Not only that but the text around the edges is blurry. I have frigged with just about everything I can think of. I really don't know what to do anymore. Tech support said to send it back for repair or replacement, but I don't think that could possibly work seeing that this is the 2nd one!

I have tried it on two different computers, with two different video cards... I have unplugged everything in the room except for the monitor and the computer. I have rearanged the room thinking that it might be some sort of disturbance.

As far as I can see this monitor just sucks.
 
1) Try taking it to a friend's house and connect his computer to it. If it has the same problem then...

2) The monitor could be defective. Not unusual getting two defective monitors.
 
This is really strange. I managed to get rid of the shaking by moving my computer to the other side of the room. Strange huh? Maybe there is something behind the other wall screwing it up. I still notice that the text is really blurry on left and right 2 or 3 inches of the screen. I am not sure if I should return it or not. Maybe I should just try turning the focus thing on the left side of the monitor?
 
Have you tried installing the naviset software for that montior?

I am looking at purchasing one of those monitors and I have read several threads saying once they installed the naviset software and calibrated it everything was great.
Let me know what your outcome is.
 
I have the same problem...

It goes away and comes back at times...

dunno what causes it...maybe bad power

Bad power could be the problem, if you are sharing the same power circuit with an A/C, heater or other high draw device.
 
Hmmm, I think I got it to look a lot better by turning the contrast down from 100% to around 86%. Is this normal to have to do this on a CRT in order to eliminate blurry text?

I am starting to think that the monitor might be fine and that I just don't know what I am doing. :)
 
Usually, I find running the contrast really high will shorten the lifespan of a monitor. A brand new monitor should not need contrast up more than 85%. My 5 year old 17" monitor that has faded a little is running at 85-90 contrast.
 
Well I have tried all the suggestions and here is where I am:

I have the monitor running at 1280x1024 @ 85 Hz (the suggested settings)

and most of the screen looks fine, I lowered the contrast a bit, and and played around with all the controls... no matter how hard I try I get this problem:

The convergence (RGB alignment) seems very good for most of the screen, but the bottom two or three inches of the screen seems like the convergence is wrong. If I look at white text on a black background it looks blurry. At closer inspection I notice that the blue color is shifted off the text. So I play with the convergence controls until it looks good. Then I have the same problem elsewhere on the screen (but with red instead of blue) Is there any way to fix this? It is driving me crazy! I thought this was a pro level monitor!

Hmm, where can I get more information on tweaking the pots? I see them on the left side of the monitor but the manual doesnt say anything about them (looks like there are two of them). I am not terribly keen on jabbing something into my monitor without knowing exactly what I am doing.
 
Go to sears buy Proessional craftsman 0x4" Phillips/ Turn your monitor on and with the Naviset software put up the 8pt font. since this is what you want to meansure the Focus with

The top hold is verticle which you will wnat to do first. Stick the screwdriver in there untill you feel like you stuck it into a Screw. Then Gently turn it towrds and away from you. Untill you get teh clearest text possible to your eye. Then do the same exact thing with the Bottom/Horrizontal pot. In the naviset software then set the Verticle and horizontal convergence so it is one straight line


Just dont leave the monitor unfocused for a long time. You will see the difference and the screwfriver is $2.99
 
I've tinkered with enough CRTs to be able to tell you that poor alignment (like he described) cannot be fixed by adjusting potentiometers. Alignment is adjusted on the back of the picture tube itself via sliding discs that are glued in place. They can be freed, but aligning them is a serious pain in the ass. If you mess with them, odds are that you'll make it even worse. Have it professionally done, buy a new monitor or deal with it.

Hold on... then what do the pots do? I am a little confused.

If that doesnt fix I should probably get NEC to send me a new one right?
