I use to own an NEC 2080UX+ monitor and gaming on that screen was perfect for me.

I read in reviews that the 2090UXi isn't very good in gaming and you can notice ghosting. What i can't understand is that i owned an older model and i didn’t notice any ghosting but they notice it on a newer model which has 8ms g2g.

Does anyone own this model who can give me their input on this screen?

Thanks

The panel in the 2090UXi is definitly faster than the panel in the 2080. Although we dont market it towards gamers i wouldn't see why it would not work pretty damn well. The thing has almost every ASIC NEC has ever developed for monitors in it.

Only thing I have used it for is photo work and office apps. Both of those perform outstanding.

When you say "we" do you mean you work for NEC or just sell them..

Advanced menu - Hold the input button when you power on the monitor. So from the off position hold both the input and power buttons.

Ahh...explains your love for the 20WMGX2! :p That really is the best 20" widescreen out right now and I probably would have gotten that over my F-20 if I could get it at employee pricing like yourself. ;)

I couldn't resist not to comment on this thread and about the 20WMGX2 . I just got back from BestBuy and lemme tell you something guys; the monitor is the best thing ive ever seen with my eyes, color, contrast, screen, etc.... was just amazing..... No wonder it costs 629 bucks , which u can buy like 3-19 inch monitors but i think its well worth it.... my 2 cents... :)

Fry's sells it..that's were I bought mine. Also according to poster above BB.. I've heard circut city too but no gurantees there.:)

I called BB and CC and neither carries them locally. :( Too bad, I would have like to pick one up.

Well I rarley mail order... too risky with a Frys in town but maybe you can take a chance on mail order? Check out www.pricegrabber.com for best price. Then once you found a vendor go to www.resellerratings.com to make sure they are reputable. Good luck to you.

I dont think I could mail order another monitor, too risky indeed.

Frys sells the white/silver and best buy sells the black/silver.

Best Buy is select stores though so you should call first.

OVerdrive should improve the pixel response in motion video and such. If you arent seeing any problems with it off I woudl not worry about it.

I have heard of overdrive causing input lag but i do not know too much about this.

I called seven BB's and still no luck. What would be the next monitor to look for if I get get this one?

Dude, don't buy a different monitor just because you're afraid of shopping online. I mean, c'mon, "mail order", who even uses the mail anymore?

Between a reuptable online store (Newegg, Amazon, etc) and UPS/FedEx, online shopping is way less of a hassle than brick & morter shopping.

rhashem shopping online is figurativly the same thing as "mail order" and still called mail order whether it comes by UPS, FEDEX or DHL.

-you have the wait
-you have poterntial mishandling
-you have restocking fee if you get a problematic monitor

Reading the whole 20WMGX2 thread you'll see problems do crop up nessesitaing a return. Most common are back light bleed and dead pixels. 15% restocking is no small amount on $650 plus return shipping on heavy 25 lbs box and wait time is a pain in the butt.

If NEC can't get in retail space I don't blame him for passing and finding something local he likes. I would too.

Where do you live?? I can take a look at the best buy store list I have with the ones that sell our units and let you know the closest one.

A couple years ago I bought my Dell 2005fpw and got lucky no dead pixels. My friend got his and had 4 dead pixels and returned it. It was a nightmare from there on out. Monitor after monitor until he gave up. Then he bought one from Newegg, a Samsung model and that had one dead one right in the middle. They would not take it back so he sold it on Ebay for about half what he paid because he listed it and said it had a stuck pixel.

I am not much into gambling so I want to stay one up, instead of like my friend who had to end up buying a monito from a "brick and mortar" store because he could not waste any more time shipping and recieving.

Online is great for regular hardware but monitors cross over into troubled waters. If you have time to play that game and it doesnt bother you dealing with it then yes it is a cheaper way to buy, as long as you dont spend alot of money on return shipping.

Like I said, you've got to shop from the right place. Did your friend buy the 2005FPW frm Dell? Returning things is incredibly easy with Dell. They'll send out a new one immediately, and schedule a DHL pickup from your door. You return the old one in the box the new one came in, so you're never without a monitor.

My first 2405FPW had a single dead pixel, and it took maybe 20 minutes of my time to get Dell to replace it with a new one. In contrast, if I went to Best Buy to get a monitor and it had a dead pixel, it'd be a minimum of half an hour driving in each direction, plus standing in line, plus dealing with reluctant service people, etc.

Yeah, if you want instant gratification ordering online might not be ideal, but if you find the right vendor, its substantially less risky than buying in the store. At least, I've yet to find a store that offers 15 days no questions asked returns.

I did see the LG L204WT is in stock a Circuit City, is that close to the 20WMGX2?

Thats too bad, I can't wait till October 15th to get one. I guess I will need to look at some other brands. Thanks again for checking on that.

Not really, it's a TN display just as fast or maybe even faster but color and viewangles won't matchup. But if you like it go for it..

You can order NEC in and pick up in store

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/NEC-...sem/rpsm/oid/151153/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

$619 is a very Good price too

I'm not sure how returns work that way but I would guess you could return at same store you picked it?

How about with the 20wmgx2?

I don't have an input botton.. closest thing to that is "SELECT" button and when I hold it and power on nothing happens..just turns on no advanced menu.

The 20WMGX2 does not have an advanced menu. ONly the 90 series monitors have this.
