I decided to post this in the Disk Storage Forum rather than the motherboard forum simply because I believe its more of a storage question.

I'm currently delving into the world of SAS for a server build and was wondering was there a motherbaord that supports SAS natively, like SATA, instead of having to use a controller card. I'll be buying 4 Fujitsu 15k.5 HDD's and am hoping for a RAID 3 config. I've been researching the Tyan motherboards and have not come up with much besides multiple PCI-x slots for RAID card usage.

Thanks.

A number of the new 5000 series chipset motherboards from intel and other vendors natively support sas hard drives and other sas devices. I know for sure that Intel and Tyan branded boards have these as options.
