native pixel 4:3 mode on U3011 ?

I am considering getting an U3011, but I need to know that it is capable of doing a non-stretched 4:3 mode, such as QXGA 2048x1536 or 2048x1600.

The monitor has 4:3 and 1:1 scaling modes, so that should not be a problem, the question is whether such resolution will be available in the control panel (or thru a 3rd party tool like Ati Tray Tools).

Can anyone that already owns a U3011 confirm this?

I know that such resolutions should maybe be hackable thru powerstrip or whatever, but that program locks my machine hard for some reason, so if it works out of the box that be better :)

This all would be on a Win7-64 machine with a (mobile) 5850 hooked up to the U3011 over displayport, if that matters.

If the resolution is coming out of a computer running Windows, you can just set the display driver (for ATI and Nvidia display cards) to do the 1:1 scaling for a 4:3 resolution instead of the monitor. That way you know it will work regardless of the monitors capabilities.

In the catalyst driver you mean the "enable gpu scaling" + "maintain aspect ratio" option? For some reason, "maintain aspect ratio" is greyed out, even when I have a non-native resolution & aspect ratio set. I had to use the monitor OSD to achieve 4:3 1200x1600 on my 1200x1920 screen.

If this option would work, the HP 30" would also be a viable alternative. It only scales to half res, if you send it a QXGA res would it still output it at WQXGA native pixels with square borders? Or would I need to get "maintain aspect ratio" to ungrey itself somehow?
