Hey all, I need a device (single drive) that I can put on the network away from the servers. I need to be able to swap hard drives out of this just like it was a tape backup.

Do I have a solution for this?

Just need to be able to unplug a drive and swap a new one in, without powering off or having the device bug out.

Is the unit going to stay on site all the time, or you taking it off site ?

on site all the time, the user will take the drives out in the cady and put into a safe or offsite.

2.5" drives would be nice but doesn't matter.

Can't use USB, servers will be in basement, IP KVM will be used for a station upstairs that they can view servers and stuff. Need some kind of device upstairs.

BackupAssist will be the software to take advantage of SBS Backup (Image Backup) and reporting.

yes, or something, but room looks to be about 100ft run from actual servers.

could probably also build a cheap windows atom based machine with a rd1000 type bay in it. but looking for a cheap solution thats already made.

I think the link you provided was good, just have to see if you can buy spare caddy's, and extra drives.

I wonder if it will allow you to swap the drive out tho, and allow another to go in with a re-config.
